Connect your AI client (MCP)
Besides the assistant built into the studio, you can manage your sites from Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Cursor or any client that supports remote MCP servers (“custom connectors”).
Connect
- In your AI client, add a custom connector / remote MCP server with this URL:
https://studio.shermanwebdesign.com/mcp - Your client opens the studio's sign-in. Sign in with the same Google, Microsoft or Apple account you use for the studio.
- Choose which sites the client may manage (all of them, or just some), and approve.
- Start asking: “list my sites”, “add an events page to Grace Harbor”, “show me last week's form entries”.
No API key is needed: the connection uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, and clients register themselves. Access tokens last an hour and renew automatically; you can reconnect at any time to change which sites it may reach.
Confirmations
Changes that matter (publishing, deleting, changing who has access, buying a domain, spending credits on images) first return a preview. Your client shows it to you, and the change happens only when you approve. Every call is in the site's Activity log, and earlier versions can be restored.
What a client can do
Exactly what you can do on each site, by your role: viewers read, editors change pages and templates, admins also publish and manage flows, owners also manage people, secrets and domains. Role changes apply to connected clients immediately.
Price
Tool calls on a site are charged to that site's billing owner: 1.3 credits per 1,000 reads and 27.8 credits per 1,000 edits. Your AI client's own model usage is billed by its provider, not by us. When your credit balance is below zero, tools stop working (except the billing tools) until you add credits.
Tips
- Start with “list my sites”; tools take the site's id or its short name.
- Ask the client to read a template before changing it; small edits are sent as find-and-replace changes.
- Images: give the client a link, or ask it for an upload link and drop the file there.
