Monthly site minimum
A possible monthly minimum of 1,000 credits per site, with your usage counting toward it.
Considering. Under consideration. Nothing has changed yet, and we'll announce any change on What's new before it applies.
The idea
Each site would have a monthly minimum of 1,000 credits.
- Your site's usage counts toward the minimum. A site that uses 1,000 credits or more in a month pays nothing extra.
- A site that uses less pays the difference, up to 1,000 credits for the month.
Why
A monthly minimum would let us give new accounts and startups generous starting credits while keeping the platform sustainable. For example, today's 5,000 free credits would cover about five months of one site's minimum.
Why this matters
You'd pay for what your site actually uses, not a flat fee. A quiet site on its own domain would cost about 1,000 credits a month, and a busier site would simply pay for the extra it uses. Many popular site builders charge roughly $10–$19 a month for their cheapest plan with a custom domain, billed yearly, however much or little the site is used. It would come with a warning before your credits run out and pausing instead of overspending, so the cost stays in your hands.
Also being considered
- A warning before credits run out, so you have time to add more.
- Pausing instead of going negative. When a balance reaches zero, the site would be paused, not deleted, instead of the balance going below zero.
Nothing has changed yet
This is an idea we're considering. Billing works as described in Billing & credits until we announce a change on What's new.
